DoulaConnect

Supporting Mothers in Rural New England Through a Text-Messaging Intervention Addressing Postpartum Depression

Description

Our team has partnered with doulas, perinatal providers, and Medicaid stakeholders to co-develop DoulaConnect, a structured, 12-week, hybrid (telephonic + digital) doula intervention focused on perinatal emotional support, birth preparation, and postpartum transition. DoulaConnect uses weekly check-ins, text-based self-management prompts, and a patient-facing resource hub to enhance engagement. Preliminary data indicate that DoulaConnect is feasible, acceptable, and may improve maternal mental health, postpartum follow-up, and self-efficacy.
