Dylan, Emma, Hannah, Shirin, Sid, Songyun, Vafa, Liz and Empower Lab collaborators attended the 2024 ACM (Association of Computing Machinery) CHI conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems in Honolulu, at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center on the island of Oʻahu. This is the premier international conference of Human-Computer Interaction.

Lab members engaged in the conference in a variety of ways:

• Shirin was accepted to participate in the workshop on Conducting Research at the Intersection of HCI and Health: Building and Supporting Teams with Diverse Expertise to Increase Public Health Impact for her submission: Amouei, S. & Murnane, E. L. (2024). How can we notice cognitive traps when collaborating at the intersection of HCI and health?
• Emma’s was accepted to participate in the workshop PhysioCHI: Towards Best Practices for Integrating Physiological Signals in HCI for her submission: Ricci-De Lucca, E. & Murnane, E. L. (2024). Wearable Biosensors for Early Detection and Continuous Monitoring of Postpartum Depression: A Human-Centered Approach
• Vafa was accepted to participate in the EmpathiCH workshop on Empathy-Centric Design for her submission Batool, V. & Murnane, E. L. (2024). Weight Bias in Design: Unpacking Implicit Researcher Beliefs for Building Empathy.
• Sid was accepted to participate in the workshop on Designing Inclusive Future Augmented Realities
• Songyun was accepted as a student volunteer
